WHEN DREAM AND FLESH ARE ONE

HAVE any seen the lotus dawn

Far out on the ravelled, sea,

Whole, with no flaming petal torn

By winds of futurity ?

On marshes glimpsed in living cirque

Flamingoes of new light,

Before day's mounting din shall irk

And drive them off in flight ?

Or guessed in brightness fugitive

Hints of far other Sun

Whose ruby-fingered rays will live

When dream and flesh are one ?
